My First Flight

Hello Everyone,  🙂

My first flight was amazing it was was unlike being in an airplane where you know where you are going,  you know your destination.

This type if flight is more than amazing,  it is enchanting;  it is what I always dreamed it would be.  I feel the cool breeze touch my curly wild hair not wanting to tame it,  it moves wildly with the dancing of the wind.  My heart beats wildly with unknown anticipation at where I will end up visiting.

It is my one adventure that I will never forget.  I wildness inside me as it makes me realize that this flight is changing me in so many ways;  it is helping me grow as I spread my wings high in the clouds of dreams and magic.  I used to be afraid of flying on my own,  and spreading my wings into the unknown,  but with the help of dear friends and family,  I have learned to see the beauty of flying and to explore the unknown.

The Value of each Day

“Nothing is more highly to be prized than the value of each day.”
          -Goethe

I read this quote in a book called “A Birthday Treasury and it speaks truth in this quote because in all honesty we sometimes or most of the time tend to forget how life is valuable to all of us in a meaningful way. We often see the pain that life can bring us which makes us not value life.
For me there we’re days where I would not value my life completely because of the challenges and problems that I was facing growing up as a teenager and now as a young adult. In my darkest days I would just feel like disappearing and not coming back because of the fears and doubts that I had inside of me that would not let me value my life in a positive way.
As the quote mentions it is important that no matter the struggles we face everyday; we value them as learning experiences because those learning experiences will make us value life in a meaningful and positive way.
Each day holds new adventures, challenges, and experiences to experience. Everything we see, hear, say, feel, and people we meet makes our life valuable.

My Ten favorite Quotes for January 2015

Hello Everyone :-)!

Here are my ten favorite quotes for this month that I want to share with you. Hope they serve as motivation like they do for me.

1. Laughing in Adversity:
“Laughing does not cease to be funny when people die any more than it ceases to be serious when people laugh.”    -George Bernard Shaw

We all want solutions to our problems quickly, but in truth our problems no matter how big or small they are, laughing will help us cope during our toughest times, it will make our problems less scary to bear.

2. Talking instead of Doing:
“A meowing cat catches no mice.”
-Yiddish Proverb

I will make sure that I am actually doing things, not just talking about doing them. This is something I need to work on since sometimes I have the tendency to talk to others about my plans, but it takes me a long time to make them happen, or they do not.

3. Embrace Quietness:
“Never be afraid to sit awhile and think.” -Lorraine Hansbury

Quiet is a luxury that costs me nothing. I can take a few moments each day to simply sit and think, without the need of any foreground or background noise. I like to feel the beauty of quietness around me. I like to go on a quiet and lonely place, just lay down, close my eyes and relax.

4. Spiritual Happiness:
“I never thought that a’lot of money or fine clothes-the finer things of life-would make you happy. My concept of happiness is to be filled in a spiritual sense.”
        -Coretta Scott King
I like my clothes and money is nice. But I want to recognize and encourage my spiritual side. This may mean attending a place of worship, or it may mean setting aside a few moments to reflect on your life.

5. Dancing Everyday:
“Everyday brings a chance for you to draw in a breath, kick off your shoes, and dance.”
         -Oprah Winfrey
Dancing is what brings a smile on my feet, and on my face. Dance by yourself or better yet, dance with someone else. I might not be a professional dancer, but life is too short to worry about how silly you look, embrace silliness for a while.

6. Hope is Priceless:
“Hope costs nothing.”
             -Colette
I have come to realize through my own challenges and tribulations, that it is important to have enormous amount of hope. Right now more than ever, as we grow older each day and life gets tough, we all have to keep holding on to hope tightly. All the goals we want to achieve have to be done with hope.

7. Self-Reliance is doing things on our own:
“Chop your own wood and it will warm you twice.”
          -Henry Ford
Doing things on our own, instead of letting others do them. It is more satisfying when we do certain things that we know we can do, on our own.

8. Discover New Landscapes:
“The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes.”
           -Marcel Proust
Try to see the city that you live in with brand new eyes. Everyday we take many things for granted, that we often do not see our surroundings or discover new places that our city has to offer. For fun, pretend you are a tourist, what would be interesting to see that you often take for granted.

9. Interests vs. Beliefs:
“One person with a belief is equal to a force of ninety-nine who have only interests.”
          -John Stuart Mill
When you have a strong belief and interest in something, you will do anything to make your goal happen no matter what other people tell you, or how much of a minority you are. Your willingness to go for it may serve as inspiration to others around you. Anything is possible if we truly believe.

10. Finding Inspiration:
“You can’t wait for inspiration. You have to go after it with a club.”
             -Jack London
As a writer, I am learning to not wait until inspiration strikes to me to actually write a story, poem, or article. It is important to seek inspiration while writing. Lacking inspiration is never the answer.

Need Some Writing Inspiration

Hello Everyone:)

This week is being really busy and productive for me because I have been busy with my college schoolwork, job searching, and house chores. I am also busy writing a lot. My problem with writing is I often get distracted and so I put of my writing for a while when I know I should not be doing that.

Here are some quotes to get me inspired:

Helping Words

Hello Everyone,

Whenever I see someone in my family or some of my friends having trouble I often think what would be the right words to tell them. When I see someone sad or angry about something that is either bothering them or making them feel low, it makes me feel helpless for not knowing what to tell them to make them feel better.
“A helping word to one in trouble is often like a switch in a railroad track… an inch between a wreck and smooth, rolling prosperity.”
           -Henry Ward Beecher

Some simple and positive words can often help us out of the darkness we were in.

It’s important for me to show, with words and deeds, that I care when someone close to me needs help.

This is something that I will always remember because I believe that words have the power to make us feel better and helps us get back up when we fall. Me whenever I feel really down or discouraged I always like to just listen to music like Taylor Swift or some fun and positive indie music, lately I have been liking bright pop indie music 🙂 music always helps get better once again.

Money Does not Buy True Happiness

Hello Everyone :-)!

I hope all of you had a great Labor Day weekend :-). For me it was relaxing and great, although I was a little sick but still that did not stop me from having fun and reading my favorite books :-).

Inspiration and motivation are everywhere for me. I did not so much before that quotes can have such a meaningful impact on the way I see life, for me just a simple quote can change my way of thinking about life and how life’s problems are not the only things that exist in life.

image

This quote has made me go back to these past few months, how much God has worked into my life by bringing me people as blessings that have taught me right from wrong, I am so blessed to have such great meaningful people in my life. I think it is great to have friends you can go to when you fall.

Sure I can say that my life is miserable because I do not live in a big huge mansion in Beverly Hills, or have a million dollars to spend on the things that I really wish I could buy, but I chose to not think that my life is miserable just because I am not rich.

image

I choose to live a life were I am happy in a healthy way. Sometimes when I hear my parents complain about life and how they wish they had a million dollars to spend it on the things that they always dream to have; I always think to myself, ” why are they always complaining, can’t they see that at least we have a roof under our heads, clothes to wear, and food to eat? We have each other also.” I believe that money is not everything because worrying about how much money you have is not happiness also, doing a hobby that you truly love without the thought of doing it for money is happiness :-)!

image

I decided not to live a life based on regrets and what if’s. I know that my road to being a successful writer will not happen overnight, but I am only thinking of writing as a career because I love to read, it is what my Aunt Carmen loved to do on her free times; read, read, read :-). I started writing in journals when I was in junior high because reading Anne Frank’ s novel motivated me to use writing as a way to express myself in a meaningful way.

image

I want to inspire young people to turn to writing as a fun and meaningful tool to express themselves and to shine on their writing to others. I do not know how that will happen, I only know right now that I have the potential to do it, for me it is just a matter of making it come true 🙂

Introducing Me

Hello Everyone! 🙂

My name is Jasmine Pena and I am 23 years old, I hope to use this blog as a way to share with you all of my thoughts, ideas; just a way to express myself and practice my writing since I want to be a writer.
I am right now majoring in Creative Writing with an emphasis in Fiction writing. I want to write novels for young adults and children, hopefully I will publish my own stories. My main goal is to inspire other teens and young adu
lts to turn to writing to express themselves. Many teens turn to negative ways to aliviate their feelings and emotions.
I want to be that beacon of hope for them.
My life has been full of ups and downs. Days were I feel that I just do not have the strength to keep on going but my family, friends, Jesus Christ, and music are the four support systems that keep me going and help me not give up on my dream of writing my own stories.
